The Stanley F. Brown Jamboree Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to one or more applicants who will be chosen from graduating seniors who are former players of the programs within MA District 15. All applicants must complete the application and meet the criteria listed below. This year, the total amount awarded may be divided amongst multiple award winners, but will not exceed $2500.

Stan Brown spent his entire life dedicated to the youth of MA District 15 Little League. He continued to volunteer right until his untimely death. Stan’s passion for the game and dedication to the little leaguers of this state were exemplified in his countless hours spent managing, organizing, and volunteering in our district. His volunteer efforts and commitments can not be quantified. A Little League volunteer for 53 years, Stan was a manager in Danvers Little League for eight years, and served as the league’s Vice President and President before his election as District Administrator. Two of Danvers Little League’s fields are named in his honor and we are proud to name this jamboree in his memory.

Little League was his true passion and he was committed to its growth, improvement, and to offering the Little League opportunity to as many children as possible. Stan firmly believed that Little League and its dedicated coaches and volunteers, helped to give the youth of our communities a comfortable and safe environment to not only learn the sport of baseball and sportsmanship, but more importantly grow into more well-rounded adults as a result of this experience.

This scholarship is available to any and all High School Seniors who are continuing their education and have participated in four or more years within MA District 15 Little League Baseball. Each applicant must present, with the application, a one page typed essay based on the following:

Stan gave so much to our communities through his many volunteer efforts that clearly had a positive impact on the lives of many. It is now time to envelope his many volunteer efforts and follow in his footsteps by giving of yourself to others. The theme of our essay requirement is “PAYING IT FORWARD.” Each applicant’s essay should indicate how your life experience, and experience in Little League Baseball has helped you to “pay it forward.” Please describe in depth the volunteer efforts you have performed which have impacted the lives of others.

• Confirmation from your local Little League of 4 years involvement in their program
• Activity Profile
• Essay as described above
